Driver’s License

Within 60 days of moving to a new part of Georgia, you are required to change your address on your Georgia driver’s license or ID card. This can be done online, or in person at a DMV location. They will likely request your current driver’s license number, vehicle title, and your new address. Within a couple weeks of updating your information, you will receive your updated Georgia driver’s license or ID card.

As a new resident of Georgia, you are required to register your car and obtain a Georgia driver’s license. It is required that you visit a Georgia State office and to apply for your driver license within 30 days of moving to Georgia. Act Quickly!

 

How to Apply for Your New Georgia Driver’s License

To transfer your out-of-state driver’s license, you will likely need to bring:

  • Documents proving your identification (a valid, unexpired driver’s license from another U.S. state or territory)
  • Proof of car insurance.
  • Proof of social security number.
  • A vehicle with a valid registration.

Vehicle Registration

Within 30 days of moving to Georgia, it is required that new residents register their vehicles with the state. It is required that you visit a Georgia State office. Act Quickly!

  • A valid form of Identification (Driver’s License or U.S. Passport).
  • Your vehicle title(s).
  • All vehicle owners on the title must be present or a power of attorney must be presented for the owners who are not present.

Voter Registration in Georgia

To vote in Georgia elections you must have a valid and approved voter registration. You will need to register to vote through the Georgia Department of State.

Photo identification at the polling booth is a must in Georgia.

To be eligible to vote in Georgia, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be a Georgia resident.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • NOT been convicted of a disqualifying felony.
  • NOT be declared “mentally incompetent” by a court.

How to Register Online to Vote in Georgia
