Driver’s License
Within 30 days of moving to a new part of Delaware, you are required to change your address on your Delaware driver’s license or ID card. This has to be done in person at a DMV location. They will likely request your current driver’s license number and your new address. However, the state of Delaware will not need to issue you a new Driver’s License or ID Card.

You’ve recently moved to Delaware? Congratulations!
As a new resident of Delaware, you are required to register your car and obtain a Delaware driver’s license. It is required that you visit a Delaware State office and to apply for your driver license within 60 days of moving to Delaware. Act Quickly!
How to Apply for Your New Delaware Driver’s License
To transfer your out-of-state driver’s license, you will likely need to bring:
- Documents proving your identification (a valid, unexpired driver’s license from another U.S. state or territory)
- Proof of car insurance.
- Proof of social security number.
- A vehicle with a valid registration.

Vehicle Registration
Within 60 days of moving to Delaware, it is required that new residents register their vehicles with the state. It is required that you visit a Delaware State office. Act Quickly!
The following is likely to be needed and required to register your vehicle:
- A valid form of Identification (Driver’s License or U.S. Passport).
- Your vehicle title(s).
- All vehicle owners on the title must be present or a power of attorney must be presented for the owners who are not present.

Voter Registration in Delaware
To vote in Delaware elections you must have a valid and approved voter registration. You will need to register to vote through the Delaware Department of State.
Photo identification at the polling booth is a must in Delaware.
To be eligible to vote in Delaware, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be a Delaware resident.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- NOT been convicted of a disqualifying felony.
- NOT be declared “mentally incompetent” by a court.
