Driver’s License
Within 10 days of moving to a new part of Utah, you are required to change your address on your Utah driver’s license or ID card. This can be done online. They will likely request your current driver’s license number and your new address. Within a couple weeks of updating your information, you will receive your updated Utah driver’s license or ID card.
Vehicle Registration
When moving within the state of Utah you are required to contact the state in regards to renewing a vehicle registration. Although this doesn’t need to be done immediately. As a new resident of Utah, you are required to register your car and obtain a Utah driver’s license. It is required that you visit a Utah State office to apply for your driver license. Act Quickly!
How to Apply for Your New Utah Driver’s License
To transfer your out-of-state driver’s license, you will likely need to bring:
- Documents proving your identification (a valid, unexpired driver’s license from another U.S. state or territory)
- Proof of car insurance.
- Proof of social security number.
- A vehicle with a valid registration.

Vehicle Registration
Within 60 days of moving to Utah, it is required that new residents register their vehicles with the state. It is required that you visit a Utah State office. Act Quickly!
The following is likely to be needed and required to register your vehicle:
- A valid form of Identification (Driver’s License or U.S. Passport).
- Your vehicle title(s).
- All vehicle owners on the title must be present or a power of attorney must be presented for the owners who are not present.
- Show your current out-of-state vehicle registration.
- Complete a vehicle identification number (VIN) inspection.

Voter Registration in Utah
To vote in Utah elections you must have a valid and approved voter registration. You will need to register to vote through the Utah Department of State.
Photo identification at the polling booth is a must in Utah.
To be eligible to vote in Utah, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be a Utah resident.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- NOT been convicted of a disqualifying felony.
- NOT be declared “mentally incompetent” by a court.
How to Register Online to Vote in Utah
When registering to vote by mail you will need to send your completed application to your local County Clerk’s Office.
